Week in Photos - 12th November 2017

The last week hasn’t been brilliant to be honest. I’ll go into more detail further down in the post, but basically I’ve not been well and nor has our dog, Alfie. I’ve been trying to push through and get on with university etc. but this weekend I’ve had to admit defeat and just rest. It’s meant I haven’t got things done that really needed doing, but there’s no point in pushing myself and making myself more ill. I’m just not that good at resting though hehe! I always think I should be doing something or being productive, so even when I’m feeling really poorly I end up ‘doing’ stuff!

As I mentioned, this one hadn’t been too well at the beginning of this week, poor sausage. He kept being sick and has felt rather sorry for himself. So there was lots of cuddles and TLC for him. We were really keeping our fingers crossed that he would start to feel better soon, but as you’ll read further down, that didn’t happen.

I have been ‘normal people’ poorly on top of my chronic illnesses, and it really is well and truly crap. I’ve got some yucky virus and feel pretty awful. So I’ve been snuggling in my fluffy Accessorize bedroom boots (which I really need to replace, as they’re falling apart!) and my Primark Disney jumper. I’ve also been drinking lots of tea from my Tea Tourist boxes in my Bombay Duck mug – isn’t it pretty! This spiced orange tea from Spice Kitchen is so good.

Freddie looks so adorable when he’s asleep, even if he does take up the whole sofa and push me out of my seat!

Another Pink Parcel full of interesting products to try out, plus all the essentials too. I love the fact you get a selection of both beauty and lifestyle things to sample. Plus there’s always tea, because we all know tea is essential when you’re feeling crappy!

I somehow managed to drag myself into university on Friday, although now I’m feeling even more unwell so I’m not sure it was a good idea. Anyway, this was the view out of my classroom window, which made things a little better.

This month’s Birchbox is in collaboration with Vogue – the box is really pretty. Not my favourite contents I don’t think though, but there are a few things I’ll be interested to try.

Freddie has been very cuddly yesterday and today and he snuggled up in this blanket. I think he’s feeling a bit upset, as yesterday wasn’t a good day for Alfie, our golden retriever. We had to take him to the vet, who transferred him to another vet for a sedated x-ray. They then had to put him under a general anaesthetic and open up his tummy, as he’d got half a tennis ball lodged in his stomach. We then had to go and pick him up, lay him in the back of our car and transfer him to a veterinary hospital to be kept on various drips and IV medications. He’s at risk of developing peritonitis, so they need to keep him under close observation. Poor thing looked so poorly and it’s been so strange at home without him. I think Freddie is secretly missing him too.

I won this lovely prize in a Twitter competition and it arrived yesterday. I’m really excited to try out everything.

I’ve been wearing my poppy from Crown and Glory all week with pride. Watching the remembrance programme yesterday and today always make me think of my Gran and Grandad, who both fought in the war. I miss them both terribly and remember the stories they used to tell me. The things they did for our country were truly amazing.

Week in Photos - 1st October 2017

It’s been a busy old week with most of it being spent on another week of work experience. I had a really good time but found it really hard on my health. I think I’ve been running on adrenaline to get through it, and then Friday evening came and I just kind of crashed. So, apart from getting my flu jab yesterday (which I’m pretty sure has also made me feel rubbish), I’ve been resting at home trying to re-charge my batteries a bit before next week. I turn 29 on Wednesday; so have mixed feelings about that. But I’m hoping we’ll be able to find some nice things to do to celebrate.

Last Sunday afternoon I went to West Green House and Gardens in Hartley Wintney, which is a National Trust place. Despite living here for the last 26 years, I had never been! But I’ll definitely be going back. I didn’t get to see much of it, as I went there to take pregnancy photos of Richard and Lisa, which I’m really excited to edit and give to them. I took some photos of them in this location and I love the circle in the wall.

The lilies in my autumn arrangement have opened this week and they’re such a beautiful colour. The oranges and reds are just perfect for autumn and have really brightened my room now that the weather is getting colder and wetter.

For as long as I can remember, I have bulk bought my cards for the following month. It’s the only way I can make sure I don’t forget people’s birthdays! I usually buy my cards from The Greetings Card Company and these are a couple that I bought this month. I particularly love the rainbow one!

Cuddles with this one after a hard day are the best. I’ve been feeling pretty down recently. There are a number of things going on that I’m not going to go into right now. But one thing that’s making me feel wobbly is the fact it’s my birthday on Wednesday. I get really reflective around birthdays – they make me think a lot about my illnesses and where my life is now. And they make me think about what I dreamed my life would be like at this age. I guess I just didn’t think I would still be single, living at home and needing help with simple things.

As I mentioned, I did another week’s work experience at Happiful Magazine this week and, despite feeling completely wiped out, I really enjoyed it. I’ll spend the next few weeks recovering, but it will be worth it to see my work in the actual magazine! I kept myself going with copious amounts of tea in my Happiful mug. And how cool is this planning note from a pad that the team has made – I think I need one in my life to keep me organised! Keep your eyes peeled in your local Waitrose because this month, the magazine is launching nationally in stores!

We had a Macmillan coffee morning at Happiful on Friday to raise money for the charity. One of the ladies from the magazine team made these amazing unicorn cupcakes! They looked too good to eat!

Freddie was so adorable on Saturday. This was when my sister, Rosiie, was eating a cheese roll – Freddie was trying to be extra cute in the hope of getting a nibble of the roll. He kept resting his paws on her lap and just looking at her with his big eyes.

This month’s Tea Tourist box has lots of yummy teas to try, right in time for the cooler autumn weather. I’m so excited to start drinking more tea again and using all my favourite mugs. If you fancy trying this box for yourself, use the code JAFFACAT30 and you’ll also get 30% off your first box.

Week in Photos - 3rd September 2017

The past week has been crazy busy, so I’m feeling pretty wiped out at the moment. I’ve been doing some work experience (more of which I will go into later on), so that has been quite hard with my health. And then I’ve also had my three-month review at Stanmore, which brought up a lot of mixed emotions. Thankfully, this weekend has been a lot quieter, so I’ve had some time to take it easy and rest. I can’t quite believe we’re in September now. It still feels like it was only yesterday that I had my last day at university before the summer holidays. They just seem to have flown past and now it’s only a couple of weeks before I start my third and final year – eek!

I’ve been signed up with Savvy Circle for a few years now and it’s always exciting when you get to do product reviews! This time I’ve been incredibly lucky to receive all of these bottles of shampoo and conditioner from the new Herbal Essences bio:renew range. They smell amazing and I’m excited to get trying them all!

That time of the month always feels pretty darn crappy. But thankfully Pink Parcel has my back and makes life a little bit better. I always get excited when my box arrives; as the products they pick are consistently spot on. And this month was no different. It will be great to try out everything.

I saw this quote on a biscuit tin when I went shopping with my Mum, and I instantly felt a connection to it! Biscuits can definitely fill that missing gap in your life.

I absolutely love these flowers that I treated myself to from Tesco - the bright colours really cheer me up. I don’t think I’ve had irises before in an arrangement, but I’ll definitely be getting them again. They’re so pretty.

I spent Bank Holiday Monday over at Richard and Lisa’s with my Mum and Dad, helping them with a bit of gardening. Well, when I say helping, I sat on the floor and did some weeding – that’s about as far as my skills (and energy) will go! While us girls were out in the garden, my Dad and Richard were doing some DIY jobs in the house. It was nice to spend time with them and also lovely to see the bunnies, Benjie and Beatrix. They were so cute all snuggled up together.

I think my life is now complete – I’ve managed to get my hands on my first Bath and Bodyworks candle! And there’s a couple more too. I can understand what all the hype is about now – I can’t wait to burn this and feel all autumnal. And the lid is so pretty – I think I’ll be using it as a coaster once I’ve burnt the candle. Please come to the UK soon Bath and Bodyworks!

So, as I mentioned, this week I was lucky enough to do some work experience with Happiful Magazine. It’s been hard managing it with my health and I’m feeling pretty wiped out now, but I had such a good time! Everyone was so lovely and it was great working on a magazine where I really believe in the message it’s communicating (the whole magazine is based around mental health and wellness). I definitely came away feeling like I’d found a job I would love to do. I’m hoping to go back for a bit more experience soon! This is the newest magazine, featuring the lovely Denise Welch – I’d definitely recommend getting a copy.

I’m very proud of my ‘little’ brother, Richard, for graduating as a fully-fledged paramedic on Friday! Unfortunately, I was up in London for a day at Stanmore Hospital, so my Dad and I couldn’t make it, but my Mum sent me this lovely photo of Richard and Lisa.

I went to the hairdressers yesterday for a treatment and haircut, and while I was there I read some more of this book by Ruby Wax. It’s very interesting so far.

These are the other two Bath and Bodyworks candles I treated myself to. I’m definitely ready for autumn now and am a little bit too excited about them releasing their Christmas candles. Sorry for mentioning the ‘C’ word already!

I think I also got a bit too excited when I found the Moana DVD with limited edition shiny cover in Tesco recently. After not being able to see it in the cinema, my friend, Charlie, lent me her copy, but then I picked this up the following day. I can’t wait to finally watch it!

I also want to apologise for the slightly shabby state of my blog at the moment. I’ve had problems after Photobucket changed their terms, but am gradually sorting things out and hope to also have a new layout fairly soon.
