JillyJilly Personalised Mug Giveaway! - CLOSED

I was recently contacted by the lovely Jilly from JillyJilly who was dying to tell me about one of her new products – an awesome personalised mug! Jilly very kindly asked me if I would like to choose a mug to have personalised, and of course I said yes! I went for the teatime design, which I think is just adorable, and decided to treat myself so opted to have my name on it!

Now, here’s the best bit. Jilly has very kindly offered to give one of my lovely readers their very own personalised mug! I thought this would obviously be a lovely treat for one of you, but with Mother’s Day coming up on Sunday 15th March, Jilly and I also thought that this could be a lovely gift for you to give to that special lady in your life. To enter, all you have to do is complete the tasks in the Rafflecopter below – the more tasks you complete, the more entries you gain. Unfortunately this is only for UK readers this time, so apologies to any of my international readers. The giveaway will run for one week, ending on 5th March 2015. I will be checking entries made to ensure you have followed the rules, so please play nice and complete the tasks properly! All that leaves me to say is a big Good Luck to you all!

How would you personalise your mug if you won? Have you ordered anything from JillyJilly before, or have I tempted you to place an order?

My Little Frenchie Box

If you’ve been following my series of unboxing posts about ‘My Little Box’ you’ll know how much people are raving about this subscription box service. They started off just sending boxes out to people in France and Japan, but now they’ve come over to the UK and I must say I’m incredibly glad! I was so excited waiting for my next box to arrive, so when the postman finally delivered it I was quick to tear open the packaging!

As with previous boxes, on the inside lid of the brown box was a cute little illustration saying ‘Being unafraid of not being liked is the best way to be liked.’ I really love these little quote stickers – I just think they add something extra to the box and you can also peel them off and use them in your scrapbooking or on an inspiration board. The February Box is labelled the Frenchie Box, which I was a little concerned about because they’ve already done a Paris box and I was worried they might be a bit similar. As always, it was displayed beautifully and tied together with a bow.

The first thing I found when I undid the ribbon was another A5 print, this time of a French lady carrying a red bag and the quote ‘Life is never what it seems – and that’s the great thing about it.’ I really love the idea of these prints, although I’m still trying to decide what to do with the ones I’ve collected so far. They would look great put in a frame and hung in an office, or it might just be nice to keep hold of them to look through when you’re in need of some inspiration. In this months box I also received the ‘My Little World’ A5 magazine, which I’m really looking forward to flicking through. From what I’ve seen so far, it seems to have a whole range of articles to read.

Underneath the print and magazine was a little red box, and inside was a small glass jar with a cork lid and string tied round it. Inside are lots of little scrolls in red and blue, rolled up and tied. Each scroll has an inspirational quote on it – some are in French though, which is a bit of a shame, as I have no idea what they say! However, overall I think it’s such a cute idea and I’m looking forward to reading all the quotes.

The next thing I found in the box was this navy blue box with a Smartphone case inside. It’s quite a sleek design, although is probably a little big and bulky for my liking, but I’ll certainly give it a try and see if I get on with it.

The final thing I found in My Little Box this month were the cosmetics. They came, like last month, in a cute little cotton bag, which is always such great quality.  I just wish I knew what to do with all these bags I’m accumulating! The first thing I picked up was the Oil Blotting Paper. It’s not something I’ve ever really had a need for before, but perhaps with summer on its way it might come in handy. Next up was this L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumper, which I’m looking forward to using, as I’ve never really done an awful lot with my eyebrows before, apart from getting them waxed. There was then a Khol Crayon Eyeliner, which looks like it’s a sort of black colour with gold flecks, but I’ll see when I actually try it. Then came the ‘My Little Beauty’ offering, which, this month was face tint cream, which should be nice to use, especially with my pale skin!

So, that’s everything that came in My Little Frenchie Box this month. I’m really glad that this box was a lot better than last month’s box, as I was a bit disappointed last month. However, my faith has been restored – I like the cosmetics and am looking forward to trying them, and I thought the glass jar was a really cute idea. As always, I’m already looking forward to next month’s box arriving!

Are you a fan of My Little Box? Or is there another subscription box that you would recommend?

February Gossamer Blue Unboxing

I recently signed up to a subscription box by a company called Gossamer Blue, which is an American stationery company who do two different subscription boxes, a scrapbooking one and a ‘Life pages’ one. I decided to go for the Life pages option, as I’m starting my own Project Life so thought the journaling cards would come in useful. I thought you might like to see what I got in my February box, as I know I enjoy seeing these kinds of things!

Some little wooden and plastic embellishments

Journalling cards

Journalling cards

Stamps and stickers

Overall I was really happy with this box. I particularly like the chipboard stickers, as I think they’re going to be really fun to use, especially in my daily scrapbook. I also must start rubber-stamping again, as I used to dabble in it a bit when I was younger but I haven’t used them for years. I bought a backing stamp a few weeks ago, so now there’s nothing stopping me giving them a try. They’re so versatile as well, so it’s definitely a skill I want to discover again! I also thought the journaling cards were pretty cute – I’m so excited to finally get started on my Project Life album.

Are you a Gossamer Blue subscriber? Or do you subscribe to a different box that you think I might like?

The Glitterati - February 2015

Just before Christmas I came across the most amazing website ever – Crown and Glory, who sell a massive selection of gorgeous hair accessories. If you like sparkle and glitter, then I can guarantee you will be a Crown and Glory fan. So, before Christmas I ordered myself a couple of bits and wore them religiously over the holidays. After doing a bit more browsing on their website, I found out that they did their very own monthly subscription box – The Glitterati, and I knew I had to sign up there and then.

A couple of weeks later my first box arrived, wrapped up in silver glittery tape – to say I was excited is a definite understatement! So, I thought I would share with you what I found inside. The first thing you find when you open up the box and undo the tissue paper is a little card that tells you what everything is and its monetary value – you definitely get great value for money with these boxes!

Rummaging around in this box of goodies, I pulled out the following pieces, all on a Valentine’s theme for the month of February.

Glitter Heart Bandeau

Heart Print Bow Headband

Confetti Heart Fascinator

Holographic Heart Snap Clips

Love Bobby Pin

As if this wasn’t enough, right at the bottom was a heart lollipop and a really cute Veronica Dearly card – my first Valentine’s Day card! I absolutely loved this box and I’m so excited to start wearing my pieces.

Are you a Glitterati subscriber? Or have I managed to tempt you into joining up?!

In my life this week…

Half Term

This last week has been half term for me, but instead of having a restful week, it seems to have been crazily busy! Hence why I’m writing this late and haven’t managed to get any other posts up during the week – I just haven’t had any blogging time! On Monday I had a lovely lie in and then went to see my friend Katy for a relaxing massage, which I desperately needed! Then on Tuesday I had three medical appointments, followed by getting my hair cut and I managed to have a chat to my hairdresser about dying my hair in a few weeks, which I’m really excited about. Wednesday was a bit quieter – I was meant to be visiting a friend in Basingstoke, but I woke up feeling really rubbish so we decided to postpone it to another day. So instead, I spent my day working on some college work and just generally chilling out. Thursday was my Mum’s birthday, Friday I had a couple of medical appointments and met a friend for coffee, Saturday I went shopping with my Mum and on Sunday I went to a Wedding Fayre then spent the afternoon doing arts and crafts with my brother’s fiancé and watching Disney films. I haven’t had a busy week like this for a very long time, and unfortunately I’m really feeling it now, so I guess I’ve learnt from this that I need to plan my time better and not say yes to so many things at the same time!

Mum’s Birthday

As I mentioned, on Thursday it was my Mum’s Birthday. On our birthdays, my Mum always goes out of her way to make it really special for us, so I wanted to make sure I did the same for her. So, I made sure that everyone had organised presents to give her – my Dad gave her a voucher saying she could go and choose a new sewing machine, I gave her a voucher for her and I to go on a double decker bus ride around London with afternoon tea on the bus and my siblings gave her a Pandora ring, a Pudsey ironing board cover, some bird bits for the garden as she loves looking out of the window at all the wild birds and a couple of other bits and pieces. My little sister offered to make the most amazing birthday cake for her (and did a fabulous job of it I must say!) and we really tried to spoil her rotten. On the Thursday my Dad and I took Mum to Reading, where we went to John Lewis and had a look at sewing machines. We then treated Mum to a crepe and a cuppa in the café before heading over to the Mac counter so I could treat myself to a new lipstick!

Shopping Trip

On Saturday, my Mum very kindly offered to take me on a little shopping trip to Basingstoke. I really appreciate her doing things like this, because it’s hard work for her as she has to push me round in the wheelchair and help me carry things, but I do hope that she enjoys spending some girly time together as well. We had aimed to set off at about 9am, but unfortunately we both overslept so it was more like 10.30am! But we still had a lovely time, and thankfully it wasn’t too crowded. Mum managed to pick up a few brilliant bargains in the Primark sale, and I got to spend some of my Christmas vouchers as well. I’ll be doing a big shopping haul over on my YouTube channel soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that if you fancy seeing what I picked up.

Quote of the Day

As you may remember from previous posts, I have started working with a great little company called IttyBitty Book Company. They produce the cutest little books, filled with inspirational quotes for any situation. In my work with them, I’ve decided that every other week I will share a quote with you that I feel applies to my life at that particular time. I love quotes and often turn to them when I need some motivation and inspiration, so I hope that by doing this I can help to inspire some of you too.

“Do it today or regret it tomorrow”

I found this quote in the Motivation book, and decided to look in that book because I’m really struggling to motivate myself at the moment. I don’t know if it’s my depression that’s making things rather difficult, but I just can’t seem to get myself going at the moment. I’ve got so much to do – college work, blogging, vlog stuff, tidying my room – and it’s actually starting to feel quite overwhelming, but can I get myself started? No! This quote really stood out to me, because I’m very good at saying ‘Oh, I’ll do it tomorrow’ and then when tomorrow comes, I’m either so stressed out because there’s even more pressure on me to do it, or I just freak out completely and put it off another day. I need to use this quote to remind myself that, if you do put things off there will be consequences. I think this could also apply to taking chances though. I’m quite conservative in some ways, and when opportunities come up for something slightly different I’m very good at saying no, and then regretting it the next day. I think this quote is trying to say that we have to take chances sometimes and do things today, because otherwise tomorrow we will regret the fact that we didn’t do it.

What quotes inspire you when things are difficult?

In my life this week…

Disney jumper

I don’t often chat on here about my new clothes, and I’m actually thinking of doing some more outfit posts, especially as the weather starts to improve (because let’s face it, who wants to stand outside in the rain taking photos of themselves?!) But I just had to share my new Disney jumper with you! I remember last year, ASOS brought out a Little Mermaid jumper and I was so upset that it sold out before I could get myself one. A couple of weeks ago I was ordering something from ASOS and thought I’d just have a little browse at their Disney products, and when this jumper popped up I knew it had to go straight into my basket! It is so comfy and I’ve already had some great compliments about it, with my sister saying she wants to buy one for herself as well! I’m so glad I managed to get my hands on it because I’m pretty certain this one will be a sell out as well.

Heart tests

I seem to have spent quite a lot of this week down at the hospital for one reason or another. On Monday, my Dad drove me over there as I was having some tests with the cardiology department. Basically, for as long as I can remember, my heart rate has been up in the 100’s, even when I’m resting. I get a lot of palpitations, get dizzy, especially when I go from lying or sitting to standing and can get quite breathless. I’ve been to the doctors many times about it and it’s always been ignored, but once I had my EDS diagnosis I was finally referred to a cardiologist, who thinks I may have something called POTS. So, on Monday, I had an echocardiogram (ultrasound scan of my heart) and was then fitted with a 24-hour ECG monitor. I’m still waiting to have something called a Tilt Table Test, but I should get the results of the other two tests when I see my consultant in a couple of weeks.

Valentine’s Day

So, yesterday was probably one of my most hated days of the year – Valentine’s Day! Yes, I’m single, and yes, I am a tiny bit bitter! But this Valentine’s Day wasn’t actually as bad as I thought it would be. I had decided to do a couple of gift swaps with friends, so I had a couple of lovely little gift boxes to open and actually have three cards standing up on my mantle piece now! In the evening the majority of my family were out doing romantic things, so it was just my sisters and I on our own. They ordered some pizza, I made myself a nice salad and then we all just snuggled on the sofa and had a movie marathon of Miss Congeniality, A Cinderella Story and Austin Powers Gold member. Probably one of my favourite Valentine’s Days ever.

Blogger Books

Over the last few months I’ve been gradually collecting various books from Bloggers. There seem to be a lot of bloggers with book deals at the moment, which is great and such an exciting thing to be happening for people in this industry. I thought I would share with you a few of the books that I’ve picked up or been sent recently, to help you decide which ones you want to pick up for yourselves.

The first book that I ordered from Amazon was Girl Online by Zoe Sugg (or Zoella, as she’s more commonly known in the YouTube world). Now, there was quite a scandal around this book with people complaining that Zoe hadn’t written it herself, but she always maintained that she had had help with the book, so I personally don’t quite see what all the fuss is about. I haven’t read this one yet (it’s next on my pile) but I think the story is very similar to Zoe’s story of how she got into blogging. As far as I’m aware it’s aimed more at the younger teenage audience, but I’ve heard that, if you take it for what it is, then it’s an enjoyable book.

I was very kindly sent Tanya Burr’s book by Penguin a few weeks back and so far I’ve had a quick flick through it and am really impressed. It’s full of a whole range of different topics from food to beauty and from fashion to pampering. It’s just the kind of thing I would expect from Tanya, and if you enjoy her blog and videos, then you’re sure to enjoy her book as well.

The next book that I ordered was Deliciously Ella’s new book, which came out a few weeks ago. I’ve had quite a good read of this book, and found her story at the beginning very interesting, especially from the point of view of a fellow chronic illness sufferer. This book is full of tasty but healthy recipes and information about different foods. I feel like I’ve already learnt so much about the best way to nourish my body and keep myself as healthy as possible. I’ve already had a go at making one of her dishes and it was absolutely divine, so I’m excited to make more!

The final book that I’ve got for you today only arrived a couple of days ago, so I’m yet to have a proper read of it. But I’m pretty sure it’s going to be good, considering how good everything else is that Fleur de Force does! After having a quick flick through, I was really taken by the beautiful illustrations that fill the pages. In a way it’s a bit similar to the book by Tanya Burr, in that it’s got a whole range of topics in it, so I will be interested to see how much the two differ.

Overall though, I’m really impressed with what these bloggers have achieved, and it gives me hope for my own future, that maybe one day I could be where they are now.

Have you picked up any of these blogger books? Are there any others you would recommend?

January Gossamer Blue Unboxing

I recently signed up to a subscription box by a company called Gossamer Blue, which is an American stationery company who do two different subscription boxes, a scrapbooking one and a ‘Life pages’ one. I decided to go for the Life pages option, as I’m starting my own Project Life so thought the journaling cards would come in useful. I thought you might like to see what I got in my January box, as I know I enjoy seeing these kinds of things!

The contents of the January box

Wooden, plastic and cork board embellishments

A huge selection of journalling cards

Stickers and stamps

Overall I was really happy with this box. When it first arrived I thought it was a bit small, so I was worried it wouldn’t be very good value for money, but when I opened it I realised that it was packed full of lovely things. I particularly like the cute bee stickers from this box and I think I might end up using them for penpal letters. I’m already excited to see next month’s box.

Are you a Gossamer Blue subscriber? Or do you subscribe to a different box that you think I might like?

Lush Valentine's Haul

So, unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ll know that this Saturday is Valentine’s Day. Now, I’m not your biggest Valentine’s fan as I find it just reminds me that I’m single. However, this year I’ve decided to send a few friends some bits and bobs to make them smile, as in my opinion it should be about showing love to everyone around you, not just your romantic partner.

With this in mind, I decided to have a little browse on the Lush website, as I knew they usually did a Valentine’s Day collection. I wasn’t wrong! This year has got to be one of their best years yet, so I thought I would share with you a few photos of what I picked up.

Have you popped into Lush recently? How will you be celebrating Valentine’s Day?
