With it being the summer
holidays, I thought I’d do a post about some of my dream holiday destinations.
I love nothing more than browsing through photos of beautiful destinations and
dreaming up travel ideas for when I’m well enough. There are so many beautiful
places in this world that I would love to visit, and these are just a snippet
of them!
Australia
I’ve wanted to visit
Australia for as long as I can remember. We have family out there who are
always keen for us to go and stay with them, but unfortunately with flights
being so expensive it hasn’t yet been possible. I also think you need a few
weeks if you’re going to travel that far, and finding that amount of time off
can be problematic. But that doesn’t stop me planning my ideal holiday out
there!
I’d want to see all the
famous sights – from the Opera House to the Great Barrier Reef and from the
koalas and kangaroos to Uluru. It just looks like such a beautiful and
interesting place to spend time. Maybe one day…
Greek Island
Ever since I watched Mamma
Mia I have wanted to visit Greece. Beautiful crystal clear seas, a scattering
of pastel houses among the mountains and splashes of brightly coloured flowers
and plants. What more could you possibly want from a holiday?
There are some parts of
Greece that are heavily tourist-y but there are also plenty of places and
islands that are still unspoilt by the tourist industry. I’d like to visit one
of these and experience the real Greece with its beautiful beaches and lively
culture.
California
I love America and could
quite happily holiday there every year! So far I’ve visited Washington,
Virginia and New York and have loved all of them. They’re all so different yet
feel very accessible for a British person. California is one place I’d love to
travel to.
The large expanses of blue
skies and greenery, impressive houses amongst the hills and, of course, you
can’t go to California without visiting the famous Hollywood sign.
Florida
Another American state on
my to visit list is the sunshine state of Florida. It’s a state that I’ve
wanted to visit ever since I was little and found out Mickey Mouse lived there!
But there is so much more to experience from the beautiful year round sunshine
to the expanses of golden beaches with clear blue seas.
But let’s face it; you
can’t go to Florida without visiting the main attractions – Disney, Universal
Studios and SeaWorld. I’ve been to Disneyland in Paris and absolutely loved
every minute, and I am desperate to go to Disneyworld Florida. I’d also like to
visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, especially after doing the Studio
Tour recently. And the idea of being able to swim with dolphins fulfils a childhood
dream!
Switzerland
There are so many places in
Europe I’d love to visit and at only a couple of hours flight away, Switzerland
comes near the top of my list. The beautiful mountains and green fields take me
back to those days as a child when I would sit in front of The Sound of Music,
singing along to every song. It looks incredibly breathtaking and because of
the hilly terrain, there are so many cute ways to get around, from cable car to
hill train.
I’m not much of a cold
weather person and have never really done any winter sports, but I’d love to
give skiing a try. What better place to try it out than in Switzerland? With
gorgeous little chalets and great ski runs it’s a brilliant place to go to
learn the basics.
Cornwall
You don’t have to leave the
UK to have an enjoyable holiday and in my opinion we don’t make the most of our
own country enough. There are so many places in the UK that I have never been
to, so am really trying to focus some of my plans on enjoying the length and
breadth of the UK. One place I would absolutely love to go to is Cornwall and
more specifically St Ives. I’ve seen many a picture of the beautiful beaches
and harbours and just think it looks so idyllic.
The great thing about
holidaying in the UK is that you don’t have to worry about spending hours in an
airport with passports, baggage allowances and plane delays. You can just pop
your bags in the car and head off, or even take a train if you don’t want to be
stuck on a motorway. When in Cornwall you can’t leave without dabbling in the
local delicacies, which include a yummy cream tea and, of course, the Cornish
pasty. I’m actually planning a holiday to Cornwall with a friend next summer if
I’m well enough, and I can’t wait!
Where are your dream holiday
destinations? Are any of yours the same as mine, or would you love to visit
somewhere different?
