Party Bags & Supplies Giveaway!*

My name is Jenny and I’m slightly obsessed with planning parties! I feel like I should be in some sort of party planners anonymous meeting! But in all seriousness, I don’t know what it is, but I just love party planning…possibly even more than the actual party! I really enjoy coming up with a theme and then browsing through Pinterest for inspiration for decorations, games and foods I can serve (you can check out my Pinterest here to see all my various party planning boards!) And I love to help plan other people’s parties too – whether it’s a birthday, a baby shower or a hen party – I’ll be happy to help plan it. Over the last few years I’ve organised a Disney themed Hen Do, an Alice in Wonderland birthday and a Pamper Party. And now I’m planning this year’s birthday (Rainbow Unicorn themed!) and my sister-in-law’s baby shower. It’s all very exciting!

As much as I love party planning, it can get pretty stressful with trying to organise everything, so I’m always looking for ways to reduce that stress and make things a bit easier. And one way I can do this is by finding places where I can buy everything I could possibly need. Somewhere like Party Bags & Supplies, who offer a huge range of party accessories from filled party bags and decorations to dressing up clothes and tableware.

They sell everything you could possibly need for whatever kind of party you are planning. If it’s a children’s party you’re organising, they offer a huge range of different themed products including Paw Patrol, Pokémon, Trolls, Unicorns and Superheroes. They also offer accessories for teen and adult’s parties, and these include products for specific ages, Glitz and Glamour and Sports Themed shindigs. And if it’s something other than a birthday you want to celebrate, there are plenty of products for Christenings, Engagements, Hen and Stag Nights, Weddings, New Year and Easter to name but a few.

The website sounds pretty great doesn’t it?! Well, it’s going to get even better because the lovely people from Party Bags & Supplies have offered me the chance to run a giveaway for my readers! You can win £30 to spend on anything on the Party Bags & Supplies website, which I think is pretty awesome, especially if you’ve got an event coming up. There are a couple of terms and conditions:
·      If you have previously won a competition from Party Bags & Supplies than you cannot enter future competitions I’m afraid
·      This competition is open to UK residents only
·      The competition will run for one week, so will end on Monday 18th September 2017
·      The winner’s full name and email address will be passed on to Party Bags & Supplies, who will contact you with your prize
·      Ramblings of a Jaffa Cat (me!) accepts no liability for fulfilling this prize, including in the event that it is not fulfilled by the company offering the prize

If you meet the conditions above, then all you need to do is fill in the Rafflecopter below and keep your fingers crossed that you win! Good Luck!

Are you planning a party or celebration at the moment? I would love to hear all about your party plans!

JillyJilly Personalised Mug Giveaway! - CLOSED

I was recently contacted by the lovely Jilly from JillyJilly who was dying to tell me about one of her new products – an awesome personalised mug! Jilly very kindly asked me if I would like to choose a mug to have personalised, and of course I said yes! I went for the teatime design, which I think is just adorable, and decided to treat myself so opted to have my name on it!

Now, here’s the best bit. Jilly has very kindly offered to give one of my lovely readers their very own personalised mug! I thought this would obviously be a lovely treat for one of you, but with Mother’s Day coming up on Sunday 15th March, Jilly and I also thought that this could be a lovely gift for you to give to that special lady in your life. To enter, all you have to do is complete the tasks in the Rafflecopter below – the more tasks you complete, the more entries you gain. Unfortunately this is only for UK readers this time, so apologies to any of my international readers. The giveaway will run for one week, ending on 5th March 2015. I will be checking entries made to ensure you have followed the rules, so please play nice and complete the tasks properly! All that leaves me to say is a big Good Luck to you all!

How would you personalise your mug if you won? Have you ordered anything from JillyJilly before, or have I tempted you to place an order?

January Blues Giveaway! - CLOSED

I don’t know about you, but I always find January a really difficult month. The excitement from Christmas is over, all the pretty lights and decorations have been put away and it’s usually dark, cold and wet most of the time. Not very inspiring really! To help myself get through the cold winter months, I like to plan lots of little treats that I can look forward to over January and February. I’ve actually found this really helpful, because by the time the beginning of March is approaching, the days are getting lighter and a bit warmer and I’m already looking forward to the upcoming summer.

So, with this in mind, I thought it would be nice if I could do the same for you guys, and give you a little treat to look forward to. I’ve been doing a bit of shopping in the sales since just after Christmas, and have managed to accumulate a nice little stash of prezzies for one of you to win. A couple of bits are more Christmassy, but I didn’t think that really mattered, as you can still use them all now, so hopefully you will enjoy pampering yourself with this bundle of goodies.

Bundle of prizes - cushions not included

Ghost fragrance set

Lush Christmas Candy Box

Cath Kidston Essentials Collection

Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot

Rimmel Rita Ora nail varnish collection

Aromatherapy Associates Star Gift

As you can see, there are quite a few nice bits that you can win, so I hope this can be something you get excited about! Just to go over a few rules before we get on to the actual competition – I’m afraid this giveaway is for the UK only, as it’s going to be pretty expensive to post and it was all bought with my own money, so unfortunately I can’t stretch this time to posting internationally. The giveaway will run for roughly two and a half weeks, with it finishing on Sunday 8th February 2015. To enter, all you need to do is complete the tasks set out by the Rafflecopter below. Some you can only do once, whereas there are others you can do to enter every single day. Obviously the more ways you enter, the more likely you are to be picked as the winner. There will be one winner, and they will be picked at random by the Rafflecopter. I will be checking your entries and if you haven’t completed the task properly I’m afraid you will be disqualified. I will announce the winner on my blog and also by e-mail, and you will have one week to get back to me with your address, otherwise a new winner will be picked.

Right, I think that’s everything! All that leaves us with is for you to enter on the Rafflecopter below. Have fun and good luck!

Introducing the Happiness Project + Giveaway

I was recently given a book by a friend called The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin and after hearing about it online and then flicking through the book I was inspired to do my own Happiness Project. If you haven’t heard of the book, it is basically about a lady who was tired of feeling run down and miserable all the time, so she decided to do something about it. She started off on a project that would span an entire year. Every month was assigned a theme, and within these themes she came up with a selection of goals to help her reach the happiness theme of that particular month. It’s a really inspiring and thought-provoking book, so I would really recommend giving it a read if you ever get the chance.

So, I decided that I am also fed up of feeling sad all the time. Having depression makes life incredibly difficult and, whilst I know I can’t cure myself, I can be more proactive in my choices, which in turn could lead to an improved state of mind. Conducting my own Happiness Project seemed like the perfect thing to start, what with it being a new year and all that, so I started thinking about how I could do one for myself. I have decided to use the same monthly themes that are talked about in the book, because I feel I am able to come up with relevant goals for each of them, which are personal to me. Obviously no two happiness projects will be the same, because we all have individual challenges that cause us unhappiness and different things that make us feel happy. But I felt I could relate the themes to my own life and come up with a range of goals that cover all aspects of my life.

I thought I would make a series of posts, over the next year, so that you can experience my Happiness Project with me, and perhaps even join me and do a project of your own. I will do a post at the beginning of each month, detailing the monthly theme and the goals I am aiming towards, and then at the end of the month I will do a brief wrap-up about how I have got on over the last month and reflect on how the project is going.

So we are obviously in January at the moment, and the theme for this month is to ‘Boost Energy.’ My goals this month are as follows:

Go to sleep earlier

I find that because of my health problems I need a lot of sleep, and even then I still don’t feel very energetic. I’m not expecting miraculous changes, but I’m hoping that by going to bed a bit earlier I will feel a bit more refreshed the next morning, especially when it’s a college day!

Eat more healthily

This is quite a sensitive area for me because of my eating disorder, so I know I need to be careful with the kind of goal I set myself. Rather than focussing on cutting things out or reducing the amount I eat, I thought a focus on healthier eating might be better. I believe that eating healthily means generally sticking to healthy foods, but at the same time allowing yourself a little of what you fancy. Everything in moderation is what I’ve always been told. So I will be trying to replace some of my snacks with healthier alternatives and try and ensure I’m eating as wide a variety as possible of fruits and vegetables.

Swim once a week

This is actually a goal I came up with when I saw my Physiotherapist. I used to do Hydrotherapy at the hospital twice a week, which was really helpful as I’m able to do exercises in the water than I could never do on land. But unfortunately the Hydro sessions were time limited, so before Christmas I signed up to my local gym on a swimming membership. I went sporadically but always found it very relaxing when I did eventually go, so this year I want to try and go once a week, unless there’s a valid excuse why I can’t go. It’s also an opportunity for me to have a bit of ‘me time,’ which must be good for boosting physical and mental energy.

Tidy out my wardrobe and Organise my craft unit

My mantra has always been ‘A tidy house equals a tidy mind’ so if my room is anything to go by at the moment, my mind must be incredibly messy! Rather than aiming to tidy my whole room, which I think will just be detrimental to my health, I wanted to focus on just a couple of aspects. The first thing I need to do is tidy out my wardrobe, try clothes on and actually get rid of stuff that either doesn’t fit me or I will never wear. At the moment they are just making the room feel more cluttered and having a negative impact on my body image when I look in the wardrobe and realise I have things in there that don’t fit me any more. I would also like to organise my new craft units that I bought at the end of last year. This will actually be incredibly helpful for another goal in a few months time, so I really need to work on getting it done.

Go to the cinema once a month

This is a slightly abstract goal, because I’m not 100% sure if it will actually have any impact on my energy, but it’s something I have been wanting to do for a while and now felt like a good time to introduce it. I love going to the cinema and, now that I’m a student, I feel like I should be making the most of reduced ticket prices and trying to do a few more social activities with people who live nearby. I’m hoping it will promote extra happiness, especially if I go and watch a comedy or a Disney film!

So there we have it. Five different goals to work on this month, and I think that hopefully they are very achievable goals. I’m really looking forward to taking part in this project and would love you to join me with your own. If you would like to take part and happen to take any photos as part of your project, please use #JensHappyProject so I can check out what you’ve all been up to!

I’m enjoying this book so much that I decided to buy another copy to giveaway to you guys! All you have to do is enter on the Rafflecopter below. This giveaway is open to everyone and anyone, as it won’t be too heavy for me to post if you happen to live abroad, so please do enter if you’d like to win the book and a little letter from me. I will check the winning entry so please play fair. The giveaway will close on 16th January, so you have just over a week to enter.

Blog Birthday Giveaway!

I am in a slight state of shock at the moment. Have I really been blogging for a year already?! Seriously, where has the time gone? I’ve enjoyed every minute of it so far and feel so lucky to now have over 500 people following what I write. I can’t even comprehend that number of people in my head! So anyway, I decided I couldn’t possibly have my blog birthday without treating myself to a pretty cupcake, so last weekend I headed down to my local Waitrose and chose myself the prettiest cupcake I could find on the bakery counter. As you can see from the photos, Freddie decided to help me blow the candle out!

What with my blog birthday this week and my birthday on the 4th October, I decided that I wanted to share the love with all my lovely readers because, without you, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I know you all love a good giveaway, so I had a think about what I could give you all to thank you for your loyal support. As you might have guessed, my favourite colour is pink, so I decided to go for a pink giveaway! So, here’s what you could win in my Pink Birthday Giveaway!

If you’d like to win all this pink loveliness, all you have to do is fill in the Rafflecopter below and keep your fingers crossed! I’m afraid this is a UK only giveaway, as I can’t afford to post overseas, but I do really appreciate my overseas readers too and I will have a think about how I can include you in a future giveaway. The competition will last for two weeks and I will then announce the winner on my blog, as well as contacting the lucky person by e-mail. The more things you do on the Rafflecopter, the more chances you get to be a winner!

How long have you been reading my blog? What would you like to see me do over the next year?

The Pillow Fort Giveaway

As you’re probably already aware, I have a chronic illness or two, which hugely affect my life. Often the problem with support groups for spoonies (if you’re unsure what a spoonie is, it’s the name for someone with a chronic illness – do a Google search to find out why!) is that they can be quite depressing at times, simply focussing on all the negative aspects of being unwell, which can be quite unsupportive if you get dragged into the negative atmosphere. This is why, when I came across The Pillow Fort, I was really excited! Finally a place I can go where the fact that I’m ill isn’t even important. A place that finds the silver lining in every situation and can support me through the ups and downs of chronic illness.

For a start, I love the name, as it made me think of all those times when I was younger that I built a den with my pillows and duvet. Browsing through the website I came across a whole number of exciting things – a Facebook group, Shop, Digital magazine and a blog. I just knew I had to tell you all about it, as I know I have quite a few spoonie readers and I want you to all know about this awesome new place I’ve found!

The shop is a particular favourite of mine, and could be useful to anyone who knows someone with a chronic illness (or even if you don’t, there are some cute gifts there!) Sometimes it can be difficult to know what to buy a friend with a chronic illness, but there are so many great ideas here, which include the following items.

Cloud Cushion

Rainbow Pill Holder

Hedgehog slippers

Gratitude Journal

The website was set up by a lovely lady called Lizzy, who has kindly let me have copies of the digital magazine to read and review for you. I love magazines anyway, but was a bit sceptical at first, thinking it would be full of things just talking about illness. How wrong could I have been! Yes, there are articles related to illness, but there is no ‘woe is me’ in there at all. It’s all centred around living an amazing life despite being unwell, which is truly uplifting. Various spoonies have contributed to each magazine and each magazine has a theme for articles to be based around. Anyone can contribute; you simply send your article to the email address provided. In the magazine there are also great photos, topics to think about and a massive range of articles to sink your teeth into. The fact that they are digital is also great; as you can curl up with your iPad and read bits of the magazine as and when suits you.

I decided to ask Lizzy a few questions, which she very kindly answered so you can all find out a little bit more about the person behind The Pillow Fort.

Hi Lizzy! Please could you introduce yourself a bit?

I'm Lizzy, 24 and live in Nottingham (UK) with my girlfriend, a housemate and 2 squeaky piggies. I run The Pillow Fort and marching stars zine distro, as well as volunteer at Nottingham Women's Centre. Bit of an Internet and trashy TV addict.

What made you come up with The Pillow Fort idea?

The first idea for The Pillow Fort came about a year ago when I posted pictures of microwaveable slippers and a t-shirt that said, “sleep is my therapy”. People LOVED them and I realised there was a lack of cute/fun, but practical products for young people with chronic illness. Most stuff was targeted at older people. And The Pillow Fort was born. It’s changed a lot since that original idea, and I’ve really picked up the idea of positivity too, but the original tagline (‘making chronic illness suck less’) remains.

When did you first become ill?

I first became ill about a month before my GCSEs, when I was 15. It passed though and I didn't think much of it. March 2006, half way through my AS Levels, when I was 16, I developed a permanent headache. I wasn't diagnosed with CFS/ME until 4 ½ years later though when there was an oddity in my blood work for something entirely unrelated and my GP’s questions unearthed that I'd been tired and headachy for years! I then went on to develop fibromyalgia after graduating and starting an extremely stressful sabbatical Exec role in my Students' Union.

How did it feel to be told you had a chronic illness and how did you deal with it?

Everything made a lot more sense when I received my CFS/ME diagnosis, but I'd already largely learnt to cope and thrive with my health by then. My local hospital sent me on an 8-week course to learn about all aspects of living with CFS/ME, which was really useful, although I'd worked out a lot of it for myself by that point. A diagnosis meant a community for the first time too, that was important. It's lonely when you know you've been running on about 60-70% for years, but no one else can see it and/or knows how to help

Can you tell us a bit about what The Pillow Fort offers?

The three main aspects of The Pillow Fort at the moment are the shop, the magazine and the community (Pillow Fighters Club). The shop sells a wide variety of cute/fun, yet practical products from hot water bottles to medicine holders, spoonie jewellery to PJ bottoms. The digital magazine is published bi-monthly and is created for and by young people with chronic illness. And the community, a Facebook group, has almost 500 members, and is unique amongst chronic illness communities in that it has one (quite strict) rule: Positivity Only.

Do you have any exciting plans for The Pillow Fort?

I have more plans than the time to do them! I'll be running more Pillow Fighter Club postal swaps, offering magazine subscriptions, launching new products, hopefully creating some sort of challenge and much more. A lot of the bigger/more exciting plans are under tight wraps for now, but anyone on the mailing list will be first to know!

As well as giving me the digital magazines to read and review for you, Lizzy has also kindly offered some prizes for me to give away to my lovely readers. There will be two prizes for two different winners. Prizes will be allocated in the order the winners are picked:

1.    A digital copy of the second issue of the magazine
2.    A glass jar with spoons in either as a key ring or a necklace (the winner can choose the one they prefer)

This is an International giveaway, so all my readers from around the world can enter this time! All you need to do is complete the Rafflecopter below – you have two weeks to do so, and the giveaway will end on 26th July 2014 when I will then announce the winners!

I hope you enjoy checking out The Pillow Fort and wish you good luck for the giveaway!

Have you come across The Pillow Fort before? Or do you know of a similar organisation that has helped you through chronic illness?
