Sunday Spotlight - 4th January 2015

In my life this week…

Disney on Ice

Last Sunday evening I made the journey up to London with my brother, his fiancé, my other brother’s fiancé and my sister to see Disney on Ice. I had booked wheelchair seats well in advance and it all went really smoothly. All the lifts were working in the tube stations and we were let into the venue through the VIP entrance, which was great. The actual show was brilliant – so many Disney characters all in one place. I was rocking away to all the songs and it made me even more desperate to go to Disney World in Florida! Maybe one day.

Hospital appointments

Earlier this week I had a day of hospital appointments. Before lunch I had to see my physio, which went well but she’s decided to discharge me because there’s basically nothing else she can do for me. My condition will never be cured, so it’s just a case of me continuing with my exercises and trying to manage as best I can. It feels a little sad that that’s it and I don’t get any more support, but I understand that there’s not much point in me continuing to see her if she can’t make me any better. My Dad and I then went and sat in the café for a few hours and I settled down to read this new book by Cecelia Ahern, which I’m really enjoying. I then had an appointment with my gastroenterologist (well, one of her registrars), which was a bit of a pointless appointment if I’m honest. Because I’m now under a professor in London for my digestive problems there’s not much my community team can do for me at the moment, but I did update them and talk about a couple of issues, so it wasn’t all wasted.

Paddington

It seems to be a bit of a tradition now for my Dad and I to go to the cinema in between Christmas and New Year, and this year was no exception. Along with my Mum and my friend, we went to see the new film, Paddington, and absolutely loved it. If you’re a fan of Paddington or you like children’s films that are really meant for adults then I would definitely recommend going to see it.

What has grabbed your attention this week? I love hearing about people’s new discoveries and you may end up sharing something that makes it onto my list next week!

    1. It was really good - you should go this year, or I think they do one in April time. Ah that's a shame no-one will go with you - I hope you get there soon! xx
